I found this Black Currant Juice in Trader Joe's recently. I've never seen a black currant but I'm totally in love with the juice. It's amazing. It's a lot like grape juice but a little richer and sweeter. I've got a million ideas on how to incorporate this into different recipes, here's the first of many to come!
For the Drink
3/4 cup coconut water
1/4 cup Black Currant Ginger Syrup
1/4 cup vodka
For the Black Currant Ginger Syrup
2 cups black currant juice
3 inch piece of ginger, sliced think
1 tablespoon honey
To make the syrup, add all of the ingredients to a saucepan.
Bring to a boil over high heat. Then turn down to medium heat and simmer for about 30 minutes. Turn off the heat, let cool and then place in the fridge. This recipe will yield about 1 1/2 cups.
Let the syrup in the fridge for a few hours before using.
To make the cocktail, pour all the ingredients into a glass.
Stir to combine.
Add ice to a serving glass.
Pour juice coconut water mixture over the ice.
